Overview Biotechnology and Bioprocess CoE
Biotechnology and Bioprocess Center of Excellence is one of the centers of excellence that has been officially launched on June 1, 2017 at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University to accomplish the goal of enhancing advanced research in the area of biotechnology and bioprocess. The center is expected to harness modern technologies to exploit Ethiopia’s untapped natural resources from diverse microbes, flora and fauna. The CoE utilizes and shares world-class facilities under a common hub and executes advanced high impact multi-disciplinary research of national interest in the areas of advanced biotechnology and bioprocessing. The CoE also serve as a unique graduate and research center via integrating advanced education and research, all based on excellence and innovation to promote innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship for advancing local manufacturing industries, food security, export, import substitution for realizing the country’s GDP growth and national bioeconomy development.
1.1. What we do?
Explore microbial, plant , and animal and related resources and use to build up the technology of metabolites, enzymes, bioconversions, and biomass for applications in various local industries
Develop inexpensive and eco-friendly bio-based products /materials as well as nutrient and microbe- rich commercial bio-organic fertilizer and feeds.
Collaborate with different international expertise, renowned institutions, research centers and companies in Biotechnology and Bioprocess research and application areas.
Organize national and international conferences, trainings, seminars and workshops to promote Bioengineering research, technology transfer and product development.
