The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is a prestigious global programming competition that brings together talented computer science and related fields students from universities worldwide. Known for its rigorous challenges and intense competition, the ICPC provides a platform for participants to showcase their problem-solving skills, teamwork, communication and algorithmic thinking.<\/div>\n
It is a multi-tier competition, expanded into a regional network of universities hosting regional competitions, with over 25,000 contestants competing in over 75 contests in 29 countries, with their winners advancing to the ACPC Africa and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship. The best teams will qualify for the World Finals to compete for medals, the trophy, and the honor to be called ICPC World Champions.<\/div>\n

The contest\u2019s purpose is to foster creativity, teamwork, and innovation in building new software programs, enabling students to test their ability to perform under pressure. The Arab Academy for Science and Technology joins the sponsor ICPC Foundation in supporting the Africa and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship 2023 and considers it one of the largest, most enduring, and most prestigious programming contests in the world.<\/p>\n

The latest edition of the Ethiopian Collegiate Programming Contest (EtCPC) was successfully conducted from September 21\u201322, 2023, at Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU). Esteemed institutions such as Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), Addis Ababa University (AAU), Wolkite University, HiLCOE, and the host university itself, ASTU, participated in this highly anticipated event. More than fifty (50) teams from these universities participated. Serving as a crucial qualifying round, the contest aimed to identify exceptional teams for the upcoming ACPC, scheduled to take place from November 17\u201321, 2023, in Egypt.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Fourteen (14) teams from AASTU, with two registered teams unable to participate for various reasons, showcased their talent and expertise in the EtCPC. Following intense competition, two outstanding teams from the university successfully secured their positions in the next round of the ACPC. Additionally, four other teams from various universities demonstrated remarkable skills, resulting in a total of six highly skilled teams that will proudly represent Ethiopia at the prestigious 2023 ACPC.<\/div>\n

Mieraf Jeja, Mikeyas Alemu and Asnake Assefa are AASTU students who represent the university and Ethiopia in the 26th Africa and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship (ACPC), headquartered at the Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Alexandria, Egypt, that will be held from the 17th to the 21st of November, 2023, in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.<\/div>\n
This is a momentous occasion and one that you will remember for the rest of your life. We commend you for your efforts and wish you the best of luck in the future round competitions.<\/div>\n
