Welcome Message from the Head of NRT CoE<\/h2>\n \n

Welcome to the Nuclear Reactor Technology Center of Excellence (NRT CoE)<\/strong> at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), where we are dedicated to advancing the peaceful application of nuclear technology across various sectors. The vision of the CoE is to become a nationally and internationally recognized hub for innovative nuclear research and capacity building.<\/p>\n \n

As the Head of the NRT CoE, I invite you to join us in our mission to develop expertise in nuclear science and technology. Nuclear technology is a cornerstone of modern development, and our work plays a vital role in supporting Ethiopia's progress in energy, health, industry, and beyond. I look forward to collaborating with individuals who are passionate about nuclear research and education.<\/p>\n \n

In partnership with national and international institutions including the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MINT), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and leading research universities in Korea and Russia, we are building strong postgraduate programs and research platforms. About the Center<\/h1>\n \n

The NRT CoE at AASTU has been officially recognized by the IAEA<\/strong> as a continental hub for nuclear technology in Africa. While this recognition highlights the center's strategic importance, it also comes with challenges, including a shortage of qualified personnel and limited laboratory infrastructure. To address these gaps, the NRT CoE is actively engaging academic staff from diverse disciplines to promote interdisciplinary research, innovation, and capacity building in the nuclear sector.<\/p>\n \n

The center collaborates closely with MINT, IAEA, and leading research universities in Korea and Russia to enhance its impact. The recent launch of MSc programs in Nuclear Materials, Nuclear Systems Engineering, and Radiation Chemistry<\/strong> marks a critical step toward building a skilled nuclear workforce. Currently, the NRT CoE also leads two ongoing research projects focused on advancing nuclear science and technology in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n \n \n
