Dear AASTU Community,
It gives me immense joy and pride to share a historic achievement with you all: AASTU has been granted ABET accreditation for all its Applied and Natural Science programs. This milestone marks a defining moment in our journey toward excellence in science, technology, and innovation.

On behalf of the university leadership, I extend my sincere appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to all who have contributed to this success: our dedicated academic and administrative staff, students, alumni, members of our industrial advisory panels, and the entire university community who worked with determination and resilience. I also wish to thank our university board members past and present, the Ministry of Education, Educational Training and Authority, and the leadership of the then Ministry of Science and Technology for their unwavering support and guidance. This achievement is truly the outcome of your collective hard work, commitment, and vision.

The significance of ABET accreditation cannot be overstated. It represents international recognition of the quality and rigor of our programs, ensuring that AASTU’s graduates are prepared to compete globally, innovate locally, and serve society with excellence. Accreditation is not merely a status and certificate; it is a continual commitment to quality assurance, improvement, and accountability. It embodies the true meaning of education that adapts to changing needs, integrates industry relevance, and upholds the highest academic standards.

For our present students, this is a validation that the education you are receiving is globally benchmarked and highly respected. For our future students, it is a promise that their decision to join AASTU will open doors to opportunities, anchored in a quality education they can trust as their degrees will carry international recognition, enhancing their competitiveness, mobility, and opportunities globally.

For the wider academic and industrial community, we are calling for collaboration: to share our experience, replicate best practices, and collectively raise the standards of higher education in Ethiopia and beyond.

This milestone is also a testament to the perseverance, dedication, resilience and collaborative spirit of everyone who has contributed to AASTU’s growth. It reflects years of hard work, persistence, and belief in our mission. Most importantly, this milestone inspires us to keep striving, continually improving, and becoming a role model for other programs within AASTU and beyond.

As we all know, accreditation is not a destination but a journey of continual improvement. As we celebrate this success, let us also reaffirm our commitment to continuous quality improvement and to the vision of AASTU as a leading institution of science and technology serving as a beacon of excellence, innovation, and national pride. I invite the entire AASTU community and all our collaborators to unite and carry forward this momentum into every sphere of our work: education, research, community engagement, and innovation.

Congratulations to us all!

Thank you.

With regards,
