To promote gender equality, support vulnerable groups, prevent social and health challenges, and empower the university community through awareness, capacity building, and inclusive services.

Core Message

Addis Ababa Science and Technology University's Implementation of Women and Social Affairs Inclusiveness Office is committed to creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive university where women, vulnerable groups, and all community members have equal opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed. Through empowerment, awareness, and collaborative action, the office works to promote gender equality, prevent social and health challenges, and ensure a respectful and inclusive campus for all.

Our Major Activities

Gender Equality & Mainstreaming

Integrating gender-sensitive approaches across all colleges, departments, and administrative structures. Conducting awareness programs, trainings, and workshops on gender equality and women's rights.

Support for Female Students

Providing academic, psychosocial, and material support to needy female students. Organizing mentorship programs to enhance personal growth, retention, and academic success.

Childcare & Daycare Services

Strengthening University daycare centers to support staff mothers. Ensuring child-friendly facilities and caregiving services.

Prevention of Gender-Based Violence

Running campaigns and awareness programs on GBV prevention. Creating safe reporting mechanisms and linking survivors with legal and counseling support.

Capacity Building & Leadership Development

Offering leadership and employability trainings for female students and staff. Empowering women to participate in decision-making and leadership roles.

Social Support & Welfare Activities

Supporting economically challenged students through sanitary materials, and emergency assistance. Facilitating linkages with NGOs and partners for additional support.

Inclusiveness for Vulnerable Groups

Ensuring equal participation of persons with disabilities, marginalized groups, and socially disadvantaged students.

Partnerships

Collaborating with local communities, government bodies, and development partners to advance gender and social development goals. Implementing outreach activities and advocacy programs.

Health Awareness & Prevention

Promoting the wellbeing of students, staff, and the wider community. Through education, early detection, and behavior-change communication, we work to reduce the risks of addiction, HIV, cancer, and other major health challenges.
